Common Mistakes with Bench Pressing

Most people choose to workout on their own and without a personal trainer, but this can often lead to mistakes in form when performing certain exercises. These mistakes may make your workout less effective, but more importantly, they could lead to serious injuries. It is very important to do your research to avoid making these mistakes. Here we will discuss three of the most common mistakes made by people doing the bench press.

The first thing you need to pay attention to and avoid is that you need to keep your feet flat on the ground when you are doing bench pressing. It's important that you keep your feet flat, and you want to avoid them sticking up in the air or where you are pressing up on your toes and the back to your feet are off the ground. You need to avoid this because you want to have a strong base when doing a bench press, and keeping your feet off the ground will put a lot of undue pressure on your lower back, and it will also harm your joints.

The next thing you need to regularly avoid is having a poor grip on the bar that you're using to do bench pressing. Having a poor grip will not give you the extra stability that you need in order to balance the bar properly. This could lead to all kinds of problems, and you might accidentally lose your balance on the bar and potentially drop it on your chest or worse. And that is obviously the last thing you want to do when working out like this.

The third and final mistake that is commonly made during bench press exercises is that people perform them without a spotter. You should never perform a bench press without having a spotter present. If you happen to lose your balance or pull a muscle and no one was there to help, you could find yourself in a dangerous position.

Performing any exercise improperly can lead to injuries, but the risk of injury when doing a bench press exercise incorrectly is particularly high. It is very important that you do your research and be sure you are using the proper techniques to avoid injuries.
